In January 2008 The Journal came under the management of the husband and wife team of Maurice & Dorothy Rees.  They initiated a redesign of the paper, with the addition of several colour pages each issue, and Dorothy added several new features to the paper, including Dorothy’s Kitchen Korner.

Maurice has over 47 years experience in the community newspaper & advertising field, all of it spent in Atlantic Canada. In addition to continuing his publishing interest he has had other businesses in Maitland since 1995.

Following their acquisition of The Shoreline Journal, the paper has undergone substantial changes. The monthly page count has increased by 25% and paid circulation has increased over 40%.  The Shoreline has been the standing finalist for several awards from the Atlantic Community Newspaper Association and the Truro Chamber of Commerce Award.  Maurice is in his second year as a director to ACNA.

Your advertising in the paper will be handled personally by Maurice, whose extensive background includes being founding publisher of the Nova Scotia Business Journal, and several trade publications.

He is also the recipient of the Silver Quill Award presented by the Canadian Community Newspaper Association for 25 years service to the industry.
