Miles4Migrants Donation Program
- Charity created in 2016, provides free air
travel to refugees & migrants; Ukraine is currently first appeal on
web site home page.
- ‘Donate your travel miles’ from Home Page
lets you donate your unused travel miles (or credit card program
credts), through a simple form. Note Disclaimer: Miles4Migrants
discloses at the start of the donation procedure that your miles
may go to Ukrainians, or it may go to others in urgent need as
deemed appropriate by M4Ms partners on the ground.
- ‘Apply for free Air Travel’ – also from
the Home page, an even simpler form for a Ukrainian refugee in one
of the border countries around Ukraine, to be placed on the
waiting list for air travel from a border country.

Journal are offering recognition & promotion to Thrift Shops who host a
free, private shopping trip for refugees. Contact your local shops
to inquire about interest. We are building a list of possible
participants community by community and contacting them over time. NB
for shops that sell toys we are asking the perhaps 'de-militarize' them
a bit before hand if possible.
Child Care Day Homes

including those resident in the home), for unlicensed child care in
that home.

Centre near the 102 Highway Exit. this is a distribution Hub for
furniture, kitchen wares, tools, educational books & games but NO TOYS.
As of July 11, they are unable to accept any more donations or donation
appointments, ONLY appointments, through their
web site for Ukrainian shoppers to pick up their free items.
but you can use their Facebook Page for now to post items you would like
to give to a Ukrainian in Nova Scotia; must include ONE photo and your
community so shoppers can PM you if interested.
Driver’s License
- Ukrainian License is now accepted in Nova Scotia as 'equivalent' to
a NS driver's license.
Ukrainian License is good for 90 days
Immigrant should then apply for IDP, International Drivers Permit

Transitional Funds Program - The Federal Government of Canada will
give a one-time payment of $3,000 to Refugees settling in
Canada, as a Direct Deposit into their new bank account, and a one-time
payment of $1,500 for a minor child, as a direct deposit into the new
bank account of a parent or legal guardian of the minor child, also resident
here. These funds are intended as financial assistance in getting
settled in their new province.

Residences
- WUNS has contacted Association of Atlantic

Programs, Bayers Road
- Centre provides services and programs to
immigrant families of all ages. WUNS is reviewing info.
They also have a kiosk at the Halifax
Stanfield International Airport and have been recruiting Ukrainian
speakers to staff it.
